Project Overview
A new community recreation center featuring a multi-purpose gymnasium, swimming pool, and community meeting spaces designed to serve the local neighborhood.
Challenge
The combination of a large-span gymnasium, pool structure with specialized waterproofing, and conventional occupied spaces required careful coordination of varying structural systems.
Solution
We developed a hybrid system using long-span steel joists for the gymnasium, reinforced concrete for the pool shell, and conventional wood framing for the ancillary spaces, all connected through detailed transition details.
